David Stephens

CEO // Founder

David Stephens is the Founder and CEO of PrimeTime. He attended High School in Garden City, KS and Goddard, KS. David is all Rock Chalk, having acquired his Accounting and Law degrees from the University of Kansas. We asked David a few questions about his time here:

What has been your favorite moment at PrimeTime?

It would be impossible for me to select a single moment. There are many, many stops on my PrimeTime Journey, the first basketball tournament in 2000 with 26 teams, the first Nationals in KC with 48 teams, the addition of soccer and 7on7 football, planting the PrimeTime flag in nearly 20 states, building our Nationals into the largest grassroots national basketball championship, and so much more. And at each sign post, I have made so many friendships with players, coaches, officials, staff, and so many others connected with the youth sports world.

What are you most proud of professionally?

My points of pride fall within 3 buckets.

The privilege of creating thousands of great competitive opportunities for young athletes, which allowed them to play the game they love, earn college scholarships, and, most importantly, experience the joy of competing, getting better, and understanding the value of team.

The privilege of working with some of the best people in the business, whether today, years past, or opportunities to come. I am surrounded by a special group of people and can say without equivocation that I love each and every one of them.

The opportunity and joy to build what is now PrimeTime Sports and to do so with Janice, who was not only my beloved wife, but also my biggest fan, toughest critic, and always there when I needed her.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?

Family first, whether it’s a gathering at the Farm or a Skype call. Time at the Farm, an activity I hope to do more frequently going forward. Finally…all things Jayhawks…love any trip to Allen Fieldhouse, as well as road trips to Miami, Indy, New York City and all of the TX away games. Rock Chalk Jayhawk.

My name is Zane Davis. Sports have always played an important role in my life and continue to do so today. I had the opportunity to play collegiate basketball; playing my Freshman and Sophomore years at Colby CC then finishing my collegiate career at Mesa State College where I earned a degree in Sports & Fitness Management. When free from work I enjoy playing golf, strumming a few chords on my guitar and chasing around my two-year-old daughter. The latter requiring the majority of my time and attention.
